I am the Education & Public Engagement manager at I-LOFAR, the radio telescope situated in Birr, Co Offaly. After studying physics I began working in Science Communication which allows me to share the stories of science with everyone who will listen!
Solar physicist, radio telescope operator and fond of the odd pint. As a PhD researcher at DIAS/TCD, I spend my days analysing solar observations from instruments in space and on Earth. Delighted to bring PoS to Birr, the home of Ireland’s first ready telescope.
My name is Pearse Murphy, I am a PhD researcher using the Irish LOFAR telescope (I-LOFAR) to study explosions on the Sun. I have also been involved with setting up a computer system to analyse the large streams of data from I-LOFAR
Eternal student, space-enthusiast & “solar physicist”. My PhD involves studying solar explosions using the world’s largest telescope, LOFAR. Years of study have taught me a lot, including sometimes the best science chats are had outside the office with a pint in hand!
