Tiny Particles, Big Problems: How Prostate Cancer Spreads
Kate Duffy
(PhD Student University College Dublin)
Prostate cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men in Ireland. I research how cancer cells use extracellular vesicles to corrupt healthy cells, encouraging them to spread and invade.

Cancer Vaccines - The new kid on the block in cancer treatments
Liam Murray
(Immunology PhD student - Trinity)
1 in 2 people will develop cancer within their lifetime. The traditional "3 pillars" of cancer treatment are surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. A new emerging pillar is immunotherapy - harnessing the power of your own immune system to destroy the cancer. I work on therapeutic cancer vaccines (a type of immunotherapy). These work similar to infectious disease vaccines but instead of targeting a virus (like Covid), they target cancer. In this talk I will discuss this background information on cancer and go into detail on my work on these vaccines

Physics, Biology and the FLASH effect: A Radiotherapy Revolution
Oran McElligott
(Physicist and PhD Candidate at St. Luke's Radiation Oncology Network and University College Dublin)
Discover how physics and biology are teaming up to unravel the mysteries of modern radiotherapy, including FLASH, a new, ultra-fast technique that could revolutionize cancer care.
