Can AI use the “heart” instead of the “brain” !?

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a type of brain injury that occurs when a newborn's brain doesn’t get enough oxygen or blood flow before or shortly after birth. To reduce the impact of HIE, doctors need to assess the severity of HIE as early as possible. Current methods requires highly trained specialists. An alternative approach is using the electrocardiogram (ECG), which measures heart activity. My research focuses on using ECG signals and artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically assess the severity of HIE which could help clinicians even in resource-limited settings.
