Rethinking Music Genres - a data-driven approach
Manya Singh (She/her)
(Researcher, University College Dublin)
We live in the world of data and yet much of the music is tagged by humans themselves. This causes high levels of subjectivity in labeling music genres and begs a data-driven approach. My work revolves around extracting meaningful features from audio tracks and use methods of machine learning to divide them into data-driven clusters or groups which can drive genre categorization.
